Scalable, Sustainable Power
Solutions for Data Centers
On-site, utility-grade power without an interconnection agreement
Data centers are the backbone of the modern economy—and they’re under pressure like never before. With AI and cloud computing, it’s estimated they will account for 20% of the world’s energy demands by 2030. Traditional uninterruptible power systems (UPS) provide instant backup but are incompatible with throttling and increased power density required for liquid-cooled AI chips. Delayed interconnections, rising electricity prices, and growing sustainability mandates demand a new solution.
Virtual Utility®, the first utility-grade network deployed directly at your site. It’s a turnkey, scalable solution that provides resilient, reliable power without the delays of interconnection agreements.
Scale operations
The R3Di® System, the heart of Virtual Utility, provides 1 megawatt of power per unit and is stackable so your data center can add more power with less footprint.
Ensure reliability
Operate in sync with the power grid or independently of it, smoothing out spikes and dips in transmission for the entire facility for reliable, conditioned power, with 24/7 monitoring.
Maintain compliance
Our system meets all utility standards and exceeds safety and environmental permitting standards. Even better, we handle all compliance and permitting for you.
Solve the grid gap
Grid interconnection delays can be up to 10 years in some regions. Virtual Utility® bypasses these bottlenecks with a turnkey solution that can be deployed in as little as 12-18 months.
More power in a smaller package
Traditional diesel generators and battery backup systems only handle critical loads and take up valuable real estate while offering no other value. The R3Di System is a natural gas-fired generator and battery energy storage system (BESS) that can connect to any energy source, including solar panels, wind turbines, or the electric grid. It offers instantaneous pickup for your facility’s full load as well as around-the-clock conditioning—ideal for high-density computing environments.
With close to 99% power efficiency in a compact, modular unit, the R3Di frees up valuable real estate in your facility. It’s easy to add more units as you grow.
More than a battery backup system: A strategic investment
The system can be located outside your facility and operate independent of the grid, allowing you to reduce your reliance on public utilities and avoid peak load charges. You can even participate in demand response programs to earn additional revenue.
The R3Di System is monitored by Grove365®, which uses predictive analysis for demand-side energy management. The software and a 24/7 network operations center monitor weather and grid conditions, market prices and asset performance to optimize the use of the system.
Enjoy peace of mind with a longer lifespan
The R3Di System is powered by lithium iron phosphate (LiFeP04) batteries, which maintain a higher state of charge compared to lead acid batteries. Its batteries are rated for up to 6,000 cycles compared to just 1,500 cycles, resulting in a 4-5 times longer lifespan.
Solve power problems today. Embrace energy flexibility tomorrow.
As global demand surges and electrification advances, those tasked with maintaining and developing energy infrastructure must adapt. If you’re ready to take control of your energy future, estimate your costs, savings and returns with our 2-minute Virtual Utility calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a good alternative to diesel or small modular reactors?
Yes. Unlike small modular reactors (SMRs), which are not yet commercially viable, our natural gas and battery energy storage system delivers immediate reliability, modular growth, and reduced emissions.
What work has e2Companies done with data centers?
e2Companies recently announced a strategic partnership with Corscale and Affinius Capital, which plan to deploy the R3Di® System to provide more than 300 megawatts of power to its hyperscale data center project pipeline.
How quickly can we deploy your system?
The system can be deployed in as little as 12-18 months, depending on site readiness.
How do we pay for the system?
You may choose to purchase the system upfront or lease it through annual service cost payments, eliminating the need for large capital expenses. You may also be able to take advantage of incentives such as the Investment Tax Credit (ITC), a federal credit of 30-40% for qualifying renewable energy systems. Estimate your costs and savings in just two minutes with our Virtual Utility Calculator.
What about emissions and ESG compliance?
The R3Di® System reduces carbon emissions by over 90% compared to diesel. We handle all emissions reporting and ESG compliance.
